Hello, we are Françillia and Stewart, the owners of La Loubière Gite. Cessenon has been our home for several years now, and we continue to discover more about this beautiful area. Since moving here from England, much of our time has been dedicated to renovating two houses. La Loubière, along with the Gîte, is our second renovation project in the village.
We have fallen in love with the many scenic walking, cycling, and driving routes nearby, as well as the local events and rich array of places to explore.
The Gîte itself, was once a stable and part of a wine distillery built over 120 years ago. We now live in the adjacent house, which was formerly used for packing, grain storage, and winemaking, and still contains the original wine vats.
Our Journey
We spent about a year thoughtfully converting the former stable into comfortable living quarters. The renovation began with replacing the roof and fully insulating both the roof and walls. We then rewired the space, connected it to mains water and sewage, and began levelling the floor.
Next came the interior layout, dividing the space to create a cosy bedroom, a modern bathroom, and an open-plan living room with a fully equipped kitchen. Outside, we paved the car park and created a dedicated seating area for guests to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
